The workshop titled "The Future of MapBiomas Venezuela: Priorities, Challenges, and Opportunities" provided a platform for experts from various disciplines to deliberate on new updates and foster strategic alliances.

Caracas, 11/23/2023 - A workshop was organized on November 22 to promote the first collection of MapBiomas Venezuela maps and contribute to the understanding of Venezuela's biomes. The event brought together cartography and environmental experts with the primary objective of exploring the future of the MapBiomas Venezuela initiative and devising strategies to enhance data quality and broaden thematic coverage.

Held at the Tobías Lasser auditorium of the Faculty of Sciences at the Central University of Venezuela, the workshop facilitated dialogue among representatives from universities, NGOs, private companies, and government institutions. The participants engaged in fruitful discussions on the potential of the tool and its impact on evidence-based decision making. They also identified areas for improvement and opportunities for collaboration.

The workshop yielded a series of recommendations and concrete proposals aimed at strengthening the MapBiomas Venezuela initiative. According to Irene Zager, Research Director of the environmental NGO Provita, "It was a pleasure to meet and discuss ideas with such a wonderful group of experts from various disciplines to strengthen MapBiomas Venezuela." She expressed the team's enthusiasm for the upcoming challenges in the next year.
