The Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document (ATBD) describes the algorithm, development process and production of maps used in the MapBiomas Venezuela collections. The ATBD is a dynamic document that is constantly updated to incorporate new information and knowledge from the project.

MapBiomas Venezuela has a complete General ATBD that includes a set of appendices detailing the methodologies for the classification of cross-cutting themes. The cross-cutting theme ATBDs have been developed in collaboration with RAISG in the context of the MapBiomas Amazonia project, and applied to generate data south of the Orinoco River.
